LFR, or Looking For Raid, is a game mode introduced in World of Warcraft: Cataclysm that allows players to queue for dungeons with less hassle and without the need for a pre-made group. LFR Dungeons are tuned to be completed by an raid of average player skill, making them perfect for those who want to experience end-game dungeon content without the hassle of forming a group.
To queue for an LFR dungeon, simply open the Dungeon Finder (default hotkey: I) and select the desired dungeon from the drop-down menu. Once you have a group, the dungeon will then load and you can begin your adventure! LFR is intended for players who want to experience end-game content but do not have the time or skill to form a pre-made group. It provides a more casual and forgiving environment, with dungeons that can be completed by an average player.
When does lfr reset?
LFR resets every week, on Tuesday at 3:00 PM PT for NA servers, and Wednesday at 3:00 AM CET for EU servers.
When does the timer start for the first raid of the week on LFR ?
The timer begins when the first raid of the week is completed. For example, if the first LFR raid of the week is completed on Tuesday at 4:00 PM PT, then the next LFR reset will be on Tuesday at 3:00 PM PT the following week.
Why are people so anxious to get their hands on the new loot each week in LFR ?There are a few reasons:
- The gear that drops in LFR is of high quality, and can be better than what is currently being worn. This is due to the fact that the gear is designed for average player skill, and thus is tuned to be slightly easier to obtain than gear from other sources such as Heroic Dungeons or Raids.
- LFR is the only source of gear for some players. For example, casual players or those who do not have the time to commit to a regular raiding schedule may only be able to participate in LFR. As such, they are eager to get their hands on the best gear possible each week.
- Gear obtained from LFR can be upgraded. Once a piece of gear is obtained, it can be upgraded by completing certain requirements such as obtaining a certain amount of loot from LFR or completing certain achievements. This gives players something to strive for each week, and adds an element of excitement and anticipation to the LFR experience.
